Feature Friday: Strong's Brick Oven Pizzeria

With a (mild) wheat allergy, pizza has to be really good for me to be willing to deal with the inevitable side effects, but Strong's Brick Oven Pizzeria is totally worth it.  There are a lot of good pizza places in Batesville, many of which offer gluten free (no, I'm not gluten free, but gluten free means wheat free) options.  I'm sure there are some I haven't tried yet that may rival Strong's, but at this point, when I'm willing to deal with the wheat headache, Strong's is the best and most worth it I've ever had.

I do try to eat local, but having grown up in Bright, Indiana, I will always consider Lawrenceburg to be local, no matter where I live.  Because of that and the fact that Strong's is locally owned, it's an "eating local" favorite for my family, and definitely worth the drive!

Bonus - because Strong's has four Greater Cincinnati locations, no matter where you are, you're not too far from a Strong's to consider it local for you, too.  Strong's Newport, Kentucky location was the first to open in 2011.  Unlike many restaurants that compromise their quality when they start to grow, Strong's only improved with time and their 2014 Hebron, Kentucky addition.  In fact, they did so well that they added their Lawrenceburg location in 2016.  They opened in a location that had seen so many changes in the previous years I was worried it was going to mean bad news for them, but Strong's continued to use quality ingredients and offer great service and they're still going strong (pun intended).  So well, in fact, that they opened a Reading, Ohio location just last year.

One of the things I really like about the Lawrenceburg location is the versatility.  When you walk in the front entrance, there's the bar and several bar height tables.  You can eat there, or get a table in the dining room, which has a definite family restaurant feel.  My favorite, though, is to go on a nice day and sit outside, with the breeze coming off the river.

We've been to Strong's so many times I think we've tried nearly everything on the menu, but my favorite meal there will always be the 3 Meatball Appetizer, a Mindy's Mediterranean pizza and a Hot Apple dessert pie.  And no, there's no way I can eat all that, but I'm not sure I've ever met anyone who didn't love leftover pizza.

Strong's is open 11:00am-8:00pm Tuesday through Thursday, 11:00am-9:00pm Friday and Saturday and 11:00am-8:00pm Sunday.  They are closed Mondays.  Hey, eating local means you have to respect their family time too.  During the pandemic their dining rooms are closed, but all locations are offering carry out, delivery and curbside service, AND they can sell closed cans and bottles at all locations, as well as growler refills at Hebron, Lawrenceburg and Reading.
