Feature Friday: LiL' Charlie's

When my husband and I first started dating he was living on the north side of Indianapolis and I was living in Moores Hill but working in Colerain, Ohio.  To say dates meant a lot of compromise and driving is an understatement, so we found a lot of places between our two homes to meet up to save one of us from doing all the driving.  We tried LiL' Charlie's as one of our first meet up dates but for some reason, in all the years since we've been married, we never returned.  When we moved to Batesville several people recommended it and we looked forward to exploring an old date spot.

Approaching their 21st anniversary, LiL' Charlies has grown from an 86 seat restaurant to a 210 seat restaurant and brewery with an impressive outdoor seating area.  With a privacy fence, bare bulb overhead lights and a surprisingly good view it doesn't even feel like you're in the middle of town.

We've been so many times I've tried nearly everything on the menu, but I do have a few favorites.  The Portobello Fries are AMAZING!  Tender, crispy and just a bit peppery, they are served with a southwest ranch sauce but I now get mine with regular ranch.  For a quick an easy lunch, I'm partial to the Cobb salad and their bleu cheese dressing is great.  Hubs even tried The Demon and said it was delicious, but by the end he was sweating.

We've enjoyed it so much we have now taken my parents, some clients and a couple friend of ours and even ordered carry out.  The last time we went, we sat at the same table from our first date there and joked about how far both the restaurant and our relationship have come.

LiL' Charlies is open 11:00am to 9:00pm Sunday through Thursday and 11:00am to 10:00pm Friday and Saturday.  We have really enjoyed exploring the new and improved LiL' Charlie's and look forward to many more visits to come.
